This decision was taken in the presence of our Cultural minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat , officials and delegates from 194 member nations , international guests and representatives of UNESCO'S Global network . After the declaration,  our cultural minister called it a moment of national pride , while our Prime minister said that he has been thrilled at honour .

Before Deepawali , many festivals like Kumbh Mela , Durga Pooja,  ram lila , sankirtana(Manipur), Chhau Dance , Kuttiyettam , Mudiyettu , Kalbelia Dance , Buddhist chanting of Ladakh etc. also been included in this list .

Let's promote our culture , festivals in such a way that the whole world will promote it .
