India, a country of young peoples, where it is always said that one should respect the old peoples, children and women’s. What if the integrity of women is always in danger at a place which is known as financial capital of India. Here I am telling about a recent report published in a prominent newspaper regarding the illegal abortion of adult ladies. In India, it is illegal to check the baby’s gender when he or she is in fetus of mother. But in some region of Mumbai, it was seen that a racket was running in the region of Kolhapur where the former health minister and current health minister of Mumbai belongs to. It was seen there due to need of a boy child; his parents are illegally preferring for abortion and feticide. A doctor was taken in custody police in which he accepted that he was one of the main culprits of this illegal event. He also told that with his help about 200-300 abortions have been done since last three years and all of them were adult ladies whose age was at least 26 years. This matter shocked the police and police started search operation and investigations especially in the Beed region. An octogenarian of the region told police that after sometimes it became a necessity of women either to clear her womb if it is a girl or continue to give birth to girl child until the boy is born.
A report was also published few days ago of a
doctor couple names Sudha ram Munde and Saraswati Munde who have opened their
clinics for sex determination only. In a case investigation when police asked
them very harshly about feticide, they told a story of a women whose aborted fetus
was given to dogs to hide the evidence. They also told that on an average they
used to abort about 20 females per day.
A case of Ms. Renu was also in news where his
husband only needed boy. she had given birth to two baby boys but his husband
needed one more. So, they decided it but when she went to a hospital to check
the gender it was a girl. Doctor of that hospital asked him that she want to
clean the womb. She agreed to clean the womb. But this process was not done
properly and she got infected. Many diseases have covered her. But the problem
with Sudha is that she could not go anywhere for justice.
Many known NGO of Mumbai says that female feticide
happens in every part of Maharashtra without any exception. The mindset of
society has not changed till now either you are living in urban or rural areas,
either you are rich or poor. Women must take stand for their health but they
also know that it is not easy in India.
The national health family survey of 2020-21
tells that in Maharashtra the mindset for boy as first second or third child is
very common especially among parents. About 9% females and 12% males need their
first second or third child as boy. they need more boy with respect to girl in
their family. Only 4-5% females want more daughters with respect to son.
This deep-rooted gender biasness has completely
changed the mindset of females also. They are unable to take their own
decision. Society must be aware that if you suppress more anything it will
bounce back with huge strength and determination. So, the responsible persons
of society must show their firm determination against the gender biasness.
