India has always been proud of its culture, spirituality, and wisdom. We often call ourselves a land of saints, philosophers, and reformers. Today, we dream of becoming a Vishwaguru—a teacher to the world. But before we can guide others, we must first erase the ugly reality that still exists within our own society: caste discrimination.
203.1) The Harsh Reality
Caste discrimination is not just a thing of
the past. It continues to hurt people even today. Despite laws and
constitutional safeguards, many individuals face humiliation, exclusion, and
even violence simply because of their caste. This is not only unjust but also a
direct attack on the values of equality and humanity that India stands for.
203.2) A Recent Incident
In November 2025, a shocking case came to light at Kerala University. A research scholar named Vipin Vijayan filed a complaint against his professor, alleging caste-based discrimination. According to his statement, the professor told him that people from “lower castes” should not study Sanskrit, and even claimed that the “sanctity of the department was lost” because students from backward castes were admitted. This remark was not only insulting but also an attempt to block his academic progress.
This incident shows how caste prejudice can
still poison our educational institutions, which should be places of knowledge
and equality. If discrimination exists even in universities, how can we expect
society at large to be free from it?
203.3) Why It Matters?
●
Caste divides society and prevents unity.
●
It destroys talent by discouraging students and professionals from marginalized
communities.
● It damages India’s image globally, making it harder for us to claim moral leadership as a Vishwaguru.
No country can lead the world while its own
people are divided and oppressed. True leadership comes from practicing
equality, justice, and compassion at home first.
203.4) The Way Forward
To erase caste discrimination, we need:
●
Strict enforcement of laws against caste-based abuse and violence.
●
Education that promotes equality, teaching children from the start that caste is irrelevant.
●
Social awareness campaigns to change mindsets and break stereotypes.
●
Empowerment of marginalized communities through opportunities in education, jobs, and leadership.
203.5) Conclusion
India’s dream of becoming a Vishwaguru will remain incomplete until we remove the stain of caste discrimination. The incident at Kerala University is a reminder that we cannot ignore this issue. If we truly want to guide the world, we must first build a society where every Indian—regardless of caste—can live with dignity, respect, and equal opportunity.
Only then will India shine as a true
Vishwaguru, not just in words, but in action.
