Recently, the Government of Telangana which is led by chief minister shri revanth Reddy has presented a bill in front of its legislative assembly which shows some sympathy towards those parents who are dependent on their children and often get ignored when they are in very old age. The name of this bill was Telangana employees accountability and monitoring of parental support bill 2026. This bill proposes the deduction of 15% or 10000 Rs from the salary of public as well as private sector employees who are not caring their parents. This bill will also applicable on MPs, MLAs and the representatives of the local bodies like municipal corporations and gram panchayats. Revanth Reddy in his speech said that the parents are an integral part of our family system, they are as a foundation of any family. But when we remove them from their family, we ensure injustice with them. This bill will create a responsibility on the employed children of these old age peoples.
Under this bill
those parents when neglected by their children can file an application before
district collector or district magistrate. the collector will be the
adjudicating authority for this type of case. the complainants should state
their reason for apportionment and are expected to divulge the details of their
income from all sources. The district collector should dispose the petition
within 60 days of receiving the receipt. After hearing to both parents and the children,
the amount will be deducted from the account of children and transferred to the
accounts of their parents. This bill is applicable for non-biological as well
as step parents also. A senior citizen commission will also be made which would
handle the delay done by district collectors order or delay in the disposal of
the matters. This commission would be headed by retired High court judge and
consist of two members. This commission will act as quasi-judicial body
including the authority to conduct inquiry and impose the penalties. In case of
death of a dependent parent, the other parent can file a plea to district
collector or the commission to transfer the deducted amount into his account.
In case of death of both parents, the children can file a plea to stop the
deduction of that amount from their account.
This bill is made
with very good intention to take care of our silver lining peoples but this
bill can also promote the torcher and atrocities done by their children when
they are living with them. This situation must be look upon by policy makers
and also by the policy implementing authorities.
